| The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of boron (B) using as a biological model Drosophila malanogaster. Analizing specifically the responses over descendency to doses of 6,0 and 12 mg/L, comparing a control group which culture medium was prepared with water with boron concentrations of 0,6 mg/L, according to World Health Organization. The results show a significative alteration in the number of descendency from F1 to F3 and then a tendency to normalization in F4 and F5. Also a significant change in proportions between the males and females, with an acute effect on F1 and then a possible chronic effect from F2 to F5, increasing the proportion of females over males. | El objetivo de esta investigación fue conocer los efectos de un programa de fuerza auxiliar en la prevención de lesiones de los músculos: cuádriceps femoral, isquiotibiales y bíceps femoral en futbolistas universitarios de la ciudad de Madrid, independiente del programa normal de entrenamiento del club universitario. Veinticuatro jugadores universitarios de entre 19 a 28 años participaron en el estudio, separados en grupo control (n=12) y grupo experimental (n=12). En Chile, en el año 2010, se determinó que el 25,1% de la población sobre los 15 años, presentaba obesidad y un 39,3 % sobrepeso. | The aim of the study was to compare anthropometric and physiological patterns in a sample of 522 Aymara and non-Aymara individuals from Parinacota, Chile (3.700m). After signing voluntary informed consent forms, the residents were separated in two age groups. Groups A: 18 to 35 years, and Group B: 36 to 65 years, by sex and Aymara and non-Aymara ethnicity. The results of this study determined that anthropometric anteroposterior diameter (DAP) are higher in Aymara population. Biacromial diameter (DBA) is significantly lower in the Aymara population. | El análisis seminal o espermiograma es uno de los parámetros más usados en la evaluación de la fertilidad masculina. La OMS (WHO, 2010), presentó el 5 Manual para el examen y procesamiento del semen humano, documento que fue analizado durante el primer taller de estandarización del análisis seminal (PLEAS), realizado en Santiago de Chile, mayo del 2010. | The objective of this work was identify the presence of interstitial cells of Cajal, muscle cells, nerves and androgen receptor positive cells in adult human testicle, using immunohistochemical detection for c-kit/CD-117, actin smooth muscle specific (ASMS), neurofilament (N) and androgen receptor (AR), respectively. | El objetivo del estudio fue comparar peso, talla, índice de masa corporal (IMC) y consumo de oxígeno (VO2 max) en una muestra de 73 alumnos de 10 a 12 años del poblado de Putre a 3500 metros de altitud (n=31) y del pueblito de San Miguel de Azapa, que lo hacen a 500 metros de altitud (n=42). | Activation of macrophages in periapical granulomas occurs through the presence of cytokines, endotoxin and other genetic and epigenetic factors, allowing the initiation of inflammation and bone resorption. The present study aims to analyze the presence of CD133 protein (marker of stem cells) and the AR (androgen receptor) protein in biopsies of human odontogenic periapical granuloma.
